Koh Ta Méas Necropolis

The Koh Ta Méas necropolis is a rich pre-Angkorian site discovered at Angkor Wat by Christophe Pottier and his colleagues at l’École Française d’Extrême-Orient (EFEO) à Siem Reap. The Koh Ta Méas ancient DNA project is a research collaboration involving the Himalayan Languages Project, the Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC), l’École Française d’Extrême-Orient (EFEO) à Siem Reap, le Musée de l’Homme à Paris and l’Université Paul Sabatier à Toulouse. Both modern Austroasiatic language communities and the ancient DNA retrieved from the necropolis will be studied to shed new light on the population prehistory of Southeast Asia and on the dispersal and possible homeland of Austroasiatic language communities.
